How to Apply for Jobs
Individuals seeking career opportunities at the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole (Board) must have State Civil Service Commission (SCSC) status based on prior commonwealth employment or competitive civil service testing. Application forms, instructions, general information about testing and a list of current Pennsylvania civil service openings by job category and title are available on the SCSC website
If you are a current or former Commonwealth of Pennsylvania employee with civil service status or a county employee with regular civil service status, you may apply through the Board's bidding process. All others should refer to the test announcement for the position, and follow the instructions under "How to Apply." Information on bidding is included on our job postings and available on the Jobnet website
If our vacancy posting identifies the job as "non-Civil Service," then instead of steps above, follow the instructions in the posting.

There are two classifications of state jobs: civil service and non-civil service. About 30% of state government jobs are classified as non-civil service and are filled through the Bureau of State Employment. The State Civil Service Commission
processes applicants for civil service positions.
State Employees JobNet
Current Pennsylvania employees can view most positions that are available on the state employees JobNet
. Each agency posts vacancies along with the job requirements and criteria to accept applications or bids explained. If you are a current or former Pennsylvania employee with civil service status a county employee with regular civil service status; or you have held regular civil service status in the past; you may apply to both civil service and non-civil service jobs listed on JobNet. Non-civil service employees will only be considered for positions identified as non-civil service.
The Board requires a printed vacancy bidding form
for all paper applications. Be sure to follow the instructions on the posting so that your application materials are considered.

is part of the Governor's Office of Administration and functions as a referral agency of candidates for non-civil service vacancies. Application materials and instructions, as well as information on available employment opportunities and programs, are available.
