Working toward safer communities
Most offenders who are serving time in prison will be released from prison and return to their families and communities, either through parole or by reaching their maximum sentence date. Inherent in the Board's mission to protect public safety is its work to reduce the likelihood that an offender will commit another crime once released and return to prison.
The Board uses proven research based strategies
for effective decision making and solid supervision to help offenders become successful, law-abiding citizens.
The Board also works with community and faith based agencies and groups to assist the offender with this transition. It is in the best interest of all citizens to engage in the reentry of offenders
because it is our family, friends, neighbors and community members who are returning home.
